Ingredients

  • 1 packet of active dry yeast
  • ½ cp warm water
  • 2 tsp plus ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1 1 stick of butter, softened
  • ½ cp warm milk
  • 1 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cp all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • Pour the warm water into a large bowl and dissolve 2 teaspoons of sugar and yeast in it. Let it stand for 5-10 minutes until frothy
  • Add the butter, milk, egg, ⅓ cup sugar, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Beat until combined
  • Gradually add enough flour to form a soft dough
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it until smooth and elastic
  • Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, between 45 mins and one hour
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and divide it in half
  • Roll each half into a 12-inch circle and cut each circle into 12 triangles, like a pie
  • Roll up each triangle starting from the wide end and ending at the tip
  • Place the rolls tip-side down and bend them into a half-moon shape. Place them on a baking sheet
  • Place a damp towel on top and let them rise until doubled about 30-40 mins
  • Bake in a preheated 350F oven for 10 mins or until slightly brown
