Mozzarella Meatballs Ingredients

  • Ground Beef– You will need 1½ pounds of ground beef, use 85-90% lean beef.
  • Bread crumbs– ⅓ cup of breadcrumbs are used to absorb juices from the meat and keep the meatballs moist.
  • Egg– One egg binds the meatballs so they stay together.
  • Mozzarella cheese– You will need about 6 ounces of mozzarella cheese. I used a block of cheese and cut it into ½ inch cubes.
  • Marinara sauce– Warm 3 cups of your favorite marinara sauce to serve with the meatballs.
  • Seasonings– 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of black pepper, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder, and ½ teaspoon of dried oregano are used to season and flavor the meatballs.
  • Water– 2 tablespoons of water (or more if needed) help to smooth out the meat.

How to Make Mozzarella-Stuffed Meatballs

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, egg, and water. Mix well and add more water if needed for a smooth texture.
  2. Scoop approximately 2 tablespoons of the meat then roll it into a ball. Press a cube of cheese into the center of the meatball.
  3. Surround the cheese with meat and re-roll the ball. Place the meatball onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all meatballs are rolled and stuffed with cheese.
  4. Lightly spray the meatballs with cooking spray. Place in the oven on broil for 10 minutes or until just cooked through. (overcooking will cause the cheese to spill out).
  5. Pour warm marinara sauce over the meatballs then sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve.
