Grate the butter using the largest holes on your box grater. So really, more than grated butter, you end up with shards of butter.
Gently mix the butter and ground beef in a large bowl. Do this as quickly as you can to avoid the butter melting in the warmth of your hands. Once mixed, shape the ground beef into 8 patties (around 4 inches in diameter and ¾ inch thick).
Place the patties onto the baking sheet and season generously with salt on both sides.
Heat the grill to medium to high heat.
Cook the patties for around 4 minutes on either side. Place your cheese over the patties while they have around 1 minute left of cooking.
Serve immediately once cooked and load up with your choice of toppings.
