Ingredients
  

  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 1 c water divided
  • 1-1/2 c finely chopped onion divided
  • 1/2 c matzo meal
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 can 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1/2 c lemon juice

Instructions
 

  • Combine the eggs, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup onion, matzo meal, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the ground beef to the matzo meal combination, mixing thoroughly. Shape the mixture into 1-inch balls. Set aside.
  • Add the tomato sauce, sugar, lemon juice, remaining water, and onion to a Dutch oven.
  • Add the meatballs to the pot and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer until the meatballs are firm and
  • no longer pink, about 40-45 minutes.
