Ingredients

  • - 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour;
  • - 1 tbsp baking powder;
  • - 1 tbsp granulated sugar;
  • - 1 tsp salt;
  • - ½ cup 1 stick unsalted butter, cold;
  • - 1 cup whole milk;
  • - 2-3 tbsp unsalted butter melted.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add cubed cold butter to the dry ingredients. Combine together using a pastry blender until crumbly. Make a well in the center of this mixture. Pour ¾ cup milk. Stir to combine using a wooden spoon. Mix 15-20 times only. If the dough is dry, you can add the remaining milk. The dough must be sticky.
  • Transfer the dough to the floured surface. Sprinkle flour on the top of the dough. Roll the dough into a rectangle. Then, fold the dough in half. Roll and fold the dough 2 more times. Finally, roll the dough into a rectangle ¾” thick.
  • Cut the biscuits using a 2.5-3 inch round cookie cutter. Flour the cookie-cutter each time. Reshape the remaining dough if needed.
  • Transfer the biscuits to the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter. Serve warm with honey or jam.
