Ingredients you’ll need:

To make this fantastic baked garlic shrimp recipe, you need very few ingredients:

  • Shrimp: I used peeled, deveined, and tail-on large shrimp. 1.5 lbs are enough for 4-6 servings
  • Garlic: 5 cloves of finely minced garlic
  • White wine: Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, or the white wine of your choice. Always use a wine you could drink
  • Butter: if you use salted butter, be mindful of the amount of salt you add to the dish
  • Panko breadcrumbs: I would not substitute these with regular breadcrumbs. Panko makes for way crispier shrimp!
  • Lime juice and zest: you can use lemon, but I think limes are a bit tarter and shrimp need the extra acidity
  • Parsley: Italian flat-leaf parsley is the perfect addition both for flavor and looks
  • Salt and pepper: this dish needs a good amount of salt and pepper, so don’t be shy about seasoning your shrimp. Use freshly ground black pepper

How Do You Make Baked Shrimp?

Shrimp become soft and mushy when you overcook them, so be mindful of the cooking time. Also, make sure the shrimp are completely thawed out and dried so as not to add extra moisture to the dish.

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 F. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the shrimp, minced garlic, and white wine
  2. Place the shrimp in a 9×13-inch casserole dish, in a single layer, and season with salt and freshly ground pepper
  3. Wash and dry the bowl and add the melted butter, panko breadcrumbs, and lime zest. Mix everything well using a fork and spread this mixture evenly over the shrimp
  4. Bake for 7 minutes or just until the shrimp turn pink. Turn on the broiler on high and broil the shrimp for 3 minutes or until the breadcrumbs turn golden brown
  5. Remove from the oven, drizzle lime juice over the shrimp, and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley. Serve immediately.

How Long To Bake Shrimp?

If you overcook shrimp, they become soft and mushy. Shrimp cook fast. They usually take from 5 to 7 minutes to turn from translucent to opaque and from grey to pink. Look out for these telltale signs and you will get perfectly cooked shrimp every time.
