  • 3 eggs
  • 1-1/2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 2-1/3 c cake flour
  • 2-1/2 tsps baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 c whole milk

  • 1 c unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tsps clear vanilla extract
  • 2-1/2 c confectioners' sugar

  1. Prepare a large bowl in which to make the sponge batter. Cream the butter and sugar in the bowl until fluffy before beating in the eggs one at a time. Once the eggs are well beaten, beat in the vanilla extract.
