Whenever I made myself a sandwich, my mom would say: “Eat real food. A sandwich is not a proper meal.” I think she’s wrong. A sandwich can be a full meal if you do it right, and you can add anything you want to it. Customize it with as many ingredients as you can wish.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 sheet of store-bought puff pastry, cut to squares to a size that fits the sandwich maker
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ¼ cup shredded gruyere cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped ham
  • 1 teaspoon chopped chives
  • 2 tablespoons leftover mashed potatoes
  • teaspoon paprika
  • teaspoon oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, combine the gruyere cheese, chopped ham, chives, mashed potatoes, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Brush the inside of the sandwich maker with melted butter (top and bottom)
  • Place a square of puff pastry in the bottom parts of the sandwich maker
  • Place half of the filling over each square
  • Top with the other couple of puff pastry squares and press until toasted
