In a large bowl, mix together the chopped cabbage, rice, and tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
Spoon half of the cabbage mixture into a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish, next add the ground beef and top with the remaining half of the cabbage mixture. Add fresh thyme and two bay leaves on top.

What To Serve With Cabbage Roll Casserole?
Freeze and Reheat Cabbage Roll Casserole:
For best results, you can freeze the unbaked casserole, thaw it and bake it the day you plan to serve it, but you can also freeze the leftovers.
Place them into an airtight container and freeze them for up to 3 months. Reheat them in the oven after they have thawed.
To reheat this easy cabbage roll casserole recipe, place the thawed leftovers in a baking dish and bake at a preheated 350 F for about 20 mins. You can also reheat them in the microwave.
