Best DINNER ROLLS Recipe, Fluffy & Soft

A quick dinner roll recipe is always a good idea because no dinner is complete without them, especially if the dish you cooked has a sauce or gravy. Beef Stew, Salisbury Steak, and Swedish Meatballs are all great examples of meals I cannot eat without a dinner roll!

Ingredients You’ll Need:

To make these easy dinner rolls you will need the following:

  • Warm water
  • Active dry yeast
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Butter
  • All-purpose flour

You can use granulated or brown sugar to make easy homemade rolls. I use 2% milk, but whole or skim milk works great too.

How To Make Quick and Easy Dinner Rolls?

These quick yeast rolls are ready in about 2 hours.

  1. Place the yeast, sugar, and warm water in a medium-sized bowl and stir until the yeast dissolves. Let the mixture rest for about 5 minutes until it starts to foam up.
  2. Add the beaten eggs, salt, and milk.
  3. Place the flour in a large bowl and make a well in the middle. Pour the yeast mixture into the well, cover it with a damp kitchen towel, and let it stand for 30 minutes. Do not mix.
  4. Pour in the melted butter and mix until a ball forms. Knead until all ingredients are well incorporated. Add a teaspoon of oil to the bowl, and place the dough ball inside
  5. swirling it around so it is coated with the oil.
  6. Cover the bowl with a damp towel and let rise for 30 mins
  7. Roll the dough into 15 balls and place them in a 9×13-inch baking dish or on a baking sheet. Cover with a damp towel and let them rise for 30 more minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 400F. Brush the rolls with melted butter and bake for 15 mins or until browned.

How to Shape Dinner Rolls?

Divide the dough into 15 balls if you are using a baking dish, or 16 if you are using a baking sheet. Shape each roll by pressing the dough balls between the kitchen counter and your palm and fingers, cupping the ball as you push it in a circular motion until you obtain a firm and perfectly round ball.

Dinner Roll Flavors:

This easy roll recipe can be used to make many variations:

  • Add shredded cheese to the dough
  • Make them sweet by adding more sugar and cinnamon
  • Place a cheese square in the middle of each dinner roll before rolling them
  • Add minced garlic and herbs
  • Make them spicy by adding chopped jalapenos
  • Mix in chopped olives
  • Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top before baking
  • Use whole-grain flour for healthier rolls
  • Add chopped nuts and raisins
