What can I cook in a Nuwave air fryer?

Most items suitable for deep-frying or oven-cooking can also be prepared in a Nuwave air-fryer.

This includes food like fries, fish fillets, onion rings, and chicken nuggets or even dessert options like donut holes.

Some models, working similarly to a convection oven, also allow for roasting vegetables, cooking meat, or baking cakes. The possibilities are immense.

Can I use foil in a Nuwave air fryer?

Aluminum foil can be used in a Nuwave air fryer if it is placed in the basket and not in the bottom of the air fryer itself.

You can use it to keep trays from getting dirty or wrap food such as fish to keep it moist. However, take care it is weighted down so it does not block air from flowing around the fryer as this is what allows the food to be heated.

Do you put oil in a Nuwave air fryer?

While the use of oil is not necessary for a Nuwave air fryer, it is often added to certain foods to create the desired crispiness.

Frozen foods like fries, for example, would benefit from a small amount of oil to help them avoid becoming soggy. Oil should most often be placed on the food and not in the basket itself.

How do you cook chicken wings in a Nuwave air fryer?

The most common way of cooking wings in a Nuwave air fryer is to first add any seasoning and oil before placing them in the fryer. Do not place too many wings in the air fryer to allow for circulation of the heated air.

You may also want to toss the wings or flip them with tongs to allow for even cooking and crispy results during the frying time.

10 Best Nuwave Air Fryer Recipes

Yield: 4 servings
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray, for the basket
  • 4 tbsps unsalted butter
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split at the joint and tips removed
  • Kosher salt
  • For serving : Blue cheese dressing,
  • 1/2c hot sauce, such as Frank's RedHot

Instructions

    1. First, ensure the chicken wings are dry before adding a liberal covering of salt for seasoning. Add cooking spray to the air fryer basket, taking care not to spray the bottom of the fryer.
    2. Place the wings in the fryer basket. The chicken wings should not be touching each other. To achieve a good fit, wings can be placed lying or standing in the basket
    3. Adjust the setting on the air fryer to 360 degrees Fahrenheit. After frying the wings for 12 minutes, flip them with tongs and fry them for a further 12 minutes. Once this is done, flip the wings once more and raise the temperature to 390 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook the chicken wings for approximately 6 minutes more until the skin is especially crispy.
    4. While the chicken is frying, place the butter in a microwaveable bowl and heat for one minute until melted. This can also be done in a pan on a hob before being transferred to a small mixing bowl. Once the butter is melted, add the hot sauce and whisk them together.
    5. When the chicken wings have finished frying, toss them in the butter mixture. Once they are completely coated they are ready to serve. Serve them with a side dressing of ranch or blue cheese.
